From a Bride

Hi All,

In the span of less than 24 hours I have been completely let down, insulted, disappointed and then amazed at how things in life work / fall into place.

I had confirmed with my supplier who was sponsoring our wine the amount of wine needed and have been waiting for it to be delivered.

Anyway I have been trying to get hold of her for a while now and to cut a very long story short she took it upon herself to half my order and then become a complete witch in the process after I had fulfilled my end of the bargain.

So after a whole lot of heated emails I have decided not to have her wines anywhere near our wedding and will no longer recommend them to anyone!!!

Obviously after all this I was in a complete state and didn’t know what to do to solve my wine issue now.

Thanks to my amazing friend Neil though he has already phoned a contact of his and he is in the process of sorting out the wine for our wedding.

I then contacted all my other sponsors to make sure that everything was on track and thankfully everyone else has stayed true to their word which has left me feeling a lot less stressed and more at ease.

Then the most amazing thing happened. Years ago my late Dad had an e-type jaguar which needed to be restored and well to cut a very, very long story short the man who had the car turned out to be a bit of a crook and we never knew what happened to the car which the man told my late dad it was sold etc, etc and yeah it was a nightmare.

Anyway a few months ago a gentleman by the name of David phoned our house saying that he had just recently bought the e-type jag and need the papers to transfer it into his name …. What are the chances after all these years huh??

My sister Candice had been dealing with him to sort it all out and knowing that I was still looking for a car to arrive at the wedding in she asked if he would let us use my late dads car at our wedding to which he agreed more than willingly and has even offered us another vintage car to use for the rest of the retinue.

If you had told me that I would be arriving at my wedding in my late dad’s car that he had when we were kids. I never ever would have believed it or imagined it.

I am defiantly going to be having the wedding that I have dreamed of since I was a little girl which I remember sitting and telling my special gran about.

Even though my late dad is not going to be there physically he will defiantly be with us in more ways than one.

I know that he is looking down on me with pride and love because even though I never showed it or said it much to him I love him with all my heart and miss him so, so, so much!

Hi All,
Who would have thought that so much time and effort could go into choosing the right veil?
Clearly nothing with me is every simple though …. Hee hee.
I had decided that I was not going to look for my veil until I had my dress in hand.
Me being me though I want everything like yesterday and I had started look at different veil ideas, styles and designs at different bridal shops but found nothing at all that I liked. So as usual I went on line and browsed the web for all different kind of veil ideas, styles and designs.
I was so thrilled that I found the PERFECT one on line. It is the right colour, style and has the PERFECT design on it. In fact it even works out cheaper me getting it from the UK then it does me getting it from here so yesterday it was ordered and paid for. I’m so thrilled. It’ll take 4 – 6 weeks to arrive which is more than enough time and will even be ready before my wedding dress.
The next thing I am sorting out is shoes. I did have the perfect shoes but that was before I found my wedding dress. Thankfully I never bought the shoes that I saw a couple of weeks ago because now they are completely wrong for my dress.
Tomorrow is EXACTLY 4 months till our wedding and the time is flying by faster and faster.
Luckily everything is on track.

Hi All,

What a successful weekend.

Firstly my uncle from Israel emailed me to say that he would be attending our wedding and walk me down the aisle to honor my late dad as well as toasting my parents which is just such a blessing for us all and I know that it is the way my late dad would want it to be.

As I mentioned in my last blog I went to Bride and Co this weekend looking for a wedding dress. At first I broke out in a sweat and started to panic because there was nothing that I saw for “me”. Firstly the dresses are just way too busy for my liking as well as heavy and so many layers, seeeesh not sure how some brides wear them.

Eventually though my mom found the perfect dress for me in the bridesmaid section and it is just the style that I was looking for but as usual nothing goes smoothly and according to plan hence they didn’t have it in the correct colour. Thankfully I could order it and it’ll be ready in 3 months which is just perfect!

I am so excited and feel like such a burden has been lifted off my shoulders now that my dress is ordered because it was really stressing me.

Hi All,

With just less than 5 months to our wedding I am frantically making notes of what still needs to be done, organized, collected etc, etc.

In other words I am making a checklist of my checklist if that makes sense?!?

I started playing around with the table seating … WOW who would have thought that it could be so difficult. Thankfully I think I am finally making headway of it!

Believe it or not I am still trying to find the right wedding dress which is now freaking me out as time is just flying by so quickly and the more time goes by the more I panic about finding “my” wedding dress. I am however going to look at Bride and Co this coming weekend and saw a dress on their website that I really, really love so hold thumbs that it’s “the one” and if it’s not hold thumbs that I do indeed find the right one for my special day.

I have made a temporary order for our wedding favors to our guests and am so excited they are stunning.

I also spent the whole of last weekend choosing the music for our wedding …. Never realised how much time, effort and thought would need to go into it but boy oh boy did I have an absolute blast choosing it all.

The more planning I’m doing and the closer it’s getting to our wedding the more excited I am. I’ve loved planning my wedding so much and doing it all myself has made it so much more special.

I could defiantly help someone plan their wedding as a hobby for sure.

Hi All,

Well Friday 13th August was exactly 6 months till our wedding.

I sent out our “Save the Date” card electronically which I was so chuffed with because it just got our Celestial theme across so well with the graphics / animation that was added.

Our sponsored Champaign was delivered to us last week already which I’m extremely relieved about as it’s yet another thing that can be ticked off the list.

I got my engagement ring which is just so awesome and extremely sentimental as it has my late dads’ diamonds in the setting.

Next week we are meeting Bianca to see the samples of our cupcakes and to finalise the colours as well as flavors.

Time is really catching up to us now. Still so much to arrange and sort out but I’m loving every minute of it and in fact could so see myself coordinating functions for other people in the future  … hee hee.

xx G

Hi All,

It’s been a while since I have blogged but today is the day for my update.

Our “Save the Date” cards are done and I am going to send them via e-mail as a friend of mine helped me add flash to them so they have “come alive” and look absolutely stunning which has now made us decide that we are also going to e-mail our wedding invites which firstly will save us just that little bit of extra cash to put towards other stuff for our wedding and also keeps us with the times of this day and age.

So this Saturday I was so excited because I had made an appointment to go look at and try on some wedding dresses.

Well, I get there and there is just chaos, there are loads of people in this tiny space looking at dresses, trying them on etc, etc and yet no one to help.

I was horrified because they say you must make an appointment to try on the dresses but what they don’t tell you is that they charge you R100 per dress that you try on or you need to pay R1000 deposit up front.

What happens if you don’t find a dress that you like and by the time you’ve actually found a dress that you like and that fits you might as well have flushed the money down the loo as far as I’m concerned.

I was extremely frustrated because I refused to pay to try on dresses and I wasn’t going to put down a deposit either at a place that firstly was extremely unhelpful and as far as I’m concerned they were more interested in making “quick” money then actually being there to assist in a brides special day.

I did see one stunning dress though which I obviously didn’t try on but at least it has given me an idea of what I like and what I defiantly don’t like or want.

I’m still trying to find someone to marry us which I best get a move on considering that in 2 weeks it’ll be six months to our wedding!!

So hold thumbs for us and I’ll update you all again in time.

Hi All,

The past few days have been so hectic with my work, wedding plans, Adventure Boot Camp, etc, etc that before I knew it it was the end of the day and I still hadn’t blogged and update so here goes.

I got the quote for the catering as well as a copy of the menu the other day which Matthew and I both chose. Needless to say all of a sudden the starter didn’t sound / look that great on paper. The other part of the menu like the main buffet and dessert are great so now we are just looking for a new starter before completing and signing the quote with our final choices.

The sparklers that I ordered for our photos also arrived this week which is so awesome.

I’m enjoying getting the few odds and sods that we need for our wedding now even though it’s still 7 months away. I’m an absolute perfectionist when it comes to certain things and this is one of them. So planning, sourcing, etc, etc is so me and the more ahead of time the better.

The envelopes / card that Matt and I chose for our wedding invite cannot go through a printer once it’s been cut so we would either have to stick a label on or hand write our guests names and well I don’t want to do either of those. I have a design that I want on the front of the envelope and the only way to do it is to print it on so hence this is yet another thing that needs to change.

Luckily I am designing, printing and pasting all the invites myself so I can chop and change as many times as I want. I did however come up with a stunning new design earlier today which I will test out sometime this weekend just to finalise it all.

We are also finally going to chose Matt’s suit on Sunday which I cant wait for …. YAY, YAY, YAY

xx G (15/07/10)

Hi All,

Right so yesterday (6th July) we met at the venue with Amanda to discuss draping etc.

After looking at the venue we realised that it is going to be difficult to do the draping from the ceiling unless the venue allows us to put cup hooks into the ceiling which we are now waiting for the answer to this vital question.

As you can imagine I am hoping that it is a yes because then we will have no problems otherwise we need to resort to plan B which at this point I don’t have as yet.

We also had to re-look at the hall because suddenly our guest list has shot up from 60 to 80 people but thankfully the venue can handle that amount. Not sure if my nerves can at this point but that’s it no more people to be added on the list J

Unfortunately we didn’t get round to choosing Matt’s suit yesterday because so much else landed up going on so hopefully we will sort it out sometime next week.

Last week we met the jeweler to finalise the design of my engagement ring as well as getting the quote.

He emailed me the next day with the quote as well as asking me to confirm if they can go ahead to which I replied yes, yes, yes.

After tossing and turning the whole night and thinking about my engagement ring I changed the whole design in my head …. Typical huh …. So I phoned the jeweler this morning to say I’m so sorry but I have changed my mind and come up with a whole new design which I then quickly put together in about an hour on Coral Draw and then emailed to him. Thankfully he also prefers it to my other design and we are now going ahead NO MORE CHANGES J

Hi All,

Before I begin telling you all about our plans for our wedding and what I’m feeling. I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Leone for making this great, new and exciting experience as one of her projects and contributing to our special day.

I am so excited for our wedding day and am thrilled that Leone is going to be a part of it. I have got so many ideas / pictures in my head which I can’t wait to share with her and then watch them come to life.

With just over 7 months to our wedding day I am planning non-stop.

We have decided on our Theme, Colours, Venue, Décor, DJ, photographer, Wine, Cup Cakes but still have loads to arrange like someone to marry us which I am working on. I have designed our save the date cards as well as our invites so basically we just need to go chose the paper and card board so that I can start printing and putting them together.

We are meeting at the venue tomorrow (6thJuly) with Amanda who is doing our décor for us to see how we can drape the hall, etc, etc.

We are then going to go choose Matt’s suit which I cannot wait for!! It’s great that I get to help choose his suit with him and know how smart and handsome he’s going to look and yet he will have no idea about me until he sees me walking down the aisle.

Hi All

I am very happy to announce that Geordie Shaer will be our guestblogger on Simply Me Photography. Geordie and Matthew are getting married on 13 February 2011 and Geordie will be sharing with us all  the excitement off getting married. Subscribe to our Rss feed and share with Geordie in her experience.

Describe yourself in 5 words:
Lovable, Honest, Bubbly, Emotional, Fun / Exciting, Caring / Ruled by my heart J OK so it’s a bit more than 5 but there is just so much to me that choosing 5 was an impossible task.

Where did you and your fiance meet?
We met on Facebook a week after my dad passed away. He contacted me from the “are you interested” section and well we started chatting from there.

How did he propose?
Well apparently him and my sister had been scheming for a week. It was Friday the 13thFebruary 2009 and I finished work early so that we could go out for lunch. Him and my sister had planned this whole lunch for the two of us by the pool at her beauty salon which I was completely surprised / blown away by. It was beautiful, rose petals, chocolates, wine, etc, etc. The lunch was extremely delicious and then it was time for dessert which came with a FerroRoche chocolate (my favorite) which he insisted I eat first J. As I picked up the chocolate I could feel that it had been “tampered” with so as I opened it there the ring was. At that point I burst out crying as he asked me to marry him which clearly I said yes to hence here we are now planning our wedding J

What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?

Becoming Husband and Wife and being able to share it with our family and friends

Where did you hear about Simply Me Photography?

From the Wedding Expo Website

What excites you most about being photographed by Leone?
Leone’s work speaks for itself and I just know that our pictures will be “priceless” because they will come from the heart.

What are you looking for in your wedding photography?

I want our wedding photos to capture our special day between each other, my family as well as all our friends. They must have that WOW factor and be completely unique and tell their own story just by looking at them.
